Wenderoth Attorney is Part of U.S. Delegation to Japan

April 16-19, 2018, Andrew Freistein, a Wenderoth partner, is part of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) IP Practice in Japan Committee’s U.S. Delegation to Japan.
The Delegation will meet with members of the Japanese Patent Office (JPO), IP High Court, Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA) of Tokyo, JPAA of Osaka, Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA), Japan Trademark Association (JTA), Licensing Executive Society (LES) of Japan, International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan (AIPPI Japan), Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA), and U.S. Embassy.
Open seminars are held for JPAA members in both Tokyo and Osaka, which include presentations on recent developments in the U.S. and a mock deposition demonstration. Meetings with all organizations include discussions of various topics of current interest in Japan and the U.S.
During a meeting with the IP High Court, Mr. Freistein will present a lecture on prosecution history disclaimer in view of Avid Tech. Inc. v. Harmonic, Inc., 812 F.3d 1040 (Fed. Cir. 2016).
During a meeting with JPAA Tokyo, Mr. Freistein will run a workshop on chemical patent preparation and prosecution.
